Vic Hansen, who was born at Laguna Lake (San Luis Obispo Co., California) in 1883. He began his career in boxing at Coalinga, California where he volunteered to take the place of a pro that couldn't make the weight. He was declared winner and went to Sam Langford's camp in Oakland as the only white fighter in this group. He beat all comers on the coast and headed east. He fought out of Salt Lake City where he was sometimes known as "The fighting Mormon." Vic wasn't a Morman. |
